It's Been a While, Hasn't It?

I'm so sorry to have just dropped off the face of the planet like that.  Here's a quick re-cap of all that's happened in the last few weeks and then maybe you'll feel like giving me grace.  :)

School started on the 23rd.  It was a big day for us - Emily was moving up into high school and Daniel into 7th grade.  Since I work at the high school, I was anticipating it being a busy day myself.  Little did I know how crazy it would get.  Remember back last in the spring when I was having problems with a coworker?  Well, she chose the first day of school, only the most hectic, crazy time of the entire school year, to quit.  She finished out the day, wiped all school-related documents off her computer, and left.

The end result is that I've been doing double-duty, but that I will be moving into her position (which pays more money!).  The funny thing is that, even with doing my job AND her job, I'm still not that much busier than I was when I was just doing my job!!

Emily and Daniel seem to both be settling in well in their new classes.  High school is proving to be a lot more work for Emily, but she has risen to the challenge and is showing herself to be a devoted student.  Daniel seems to be the lucky one so far with very little homework assigned yet.  I'm sure it's coming down the road, though!!

This week, though, it's been exhaustion and grief which has kept me from checking in with you.  On a very sad note, Hubby's father passed away on Sunday evening.  At 90, he lived a long, full life.  He was a sweet and godly man who treated me like one of his own children and we miss him so much.  Hubby left that night for Jordan and the funeral was yesterday.  He'll be home this weekend.  If you think of it, please pray for my mother-in-law.  They were married 52 years and her life is going to be so very different now.  Although she lives with my brother-in-law, he isn't home very often due to his business so she'll be spending days and nights alone.  It's going to be a very hard transition for her.

I do want to do a better job of keeping up with the blog, but to be honest, I just don't know if it's of interest to anyone anymore.  It started off being more about homeschooling and homemaking, but now, since I started working, seems to have become more and more mundane ramblings about my life.  And I often wonder why anyone would be interested in that?!?!

I was thinking of you yesterday and wondering where you had disappeared to. Sorry to hear about your Father-in-law. It's nice you all were able to make that trip a few weeks ago. As for the content of your blog, I personally love hearing about the ins and outs of daily life in Doha whether you are a sahm or a working mom. Actually, I can relate to the working mom life better because I've never known anything else. So, hope you'll continue writing! As for the lady that wiped the computer clean...yipes! I'm glad our work computers are all backed up by the network because we've had more than our share of disgruntled employees. That would be a nightmare.

Working changes us but I still want to keep life simple, Lori. So do you....You still love your home and care for your children, pouring yourself out for them...

I love your blog, your journey, your adventures (camels, trying to decorate when you can't put things on wall...)...

Keep writing - people are still listening.

love,
jess

I am so sorry for your loss, and I will pray for you all.

I second what Pamela said: I'm interested, and love reading about your life in the Middle East! Having stopped writing in my own blog, I completely understand if you choose to quit, but I would miss you. :)

Well, I for one, would miss you greatly if you stopped blogging. This is how I keep up with what's going on with you over there and allows me to feel still connected to you. SO, please don't go!!

Sometimes I feel the same way, especially when I don't get any comments on my blog, but that's ok. I remind myself that it's not only for others, but to document my life, too. So, I keep blogging away.

Glad to hear the kids have settled into school...and you, too. Still seems weird, you working, but life has seasons, huh?

We're settling in, too. I do miss you, though. And, I'm sorry to hear about your FIL. I know you liked him a lot. Pass my condolances to the family. And, I will be praying for your MIL. It will be a long and difficult road for her.

Talk to you soon. Have a great week!

I see that quite a few people said that they liked reading and well I wanted to say I do to. Sometimes for me it is just nice to read something that has nothing to do with me or what is going on in my life. It is like a little escape. You never know what your words could mean to someone even if it is just mundane to you!

I'm so sorry about your father-in-law. I'll pray for your family. That's hard, I'm sure.

I LOVE reading your blog!

I've dropped off commenting very often, but I ALWAYS read every word.

I hope you like the new position. I'm sure it will be much easier on everyone there with Grumplestiltskin gone.
