Does She Really Want to Hurt Me?
I've mentioned before that we have found Emily a piano teacher over here. She's very nice and Emily has made a lot of improvement with her.
Usually when we go to pick her up (she's here in Doha temporarily and doesn't have a car of her own) I have some music playing in the car. My tastes are very ecclectic - I like classical, contemporary praise and worship, country, hard rock, bluegrass, you name it. The piano teacher never once commented on any music I played.
Until the other day.
When she came to the car I had put on an 80's compilation cd. It had on it great songs like "Too Shy" by Kajagoogoo (admit it - you thought Lemuel was dreamy!), "The Future's So Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades" and more.
And then this other song came on.
A song I hate so much my fingers hurt just thinking of typing it.
And yet, Ms. Music Teacher started singing along and gushing about how much she loves this song.
Karma Chameleon. (See, I can't even bring myself to link to it.)
The person who is responsible for my daughter's musical development finds her musical inspiration in this man (?!):

ACK! That's a scary picture!! Good luck with that!! lol
Oh come on, we all thought he was a genius back in the 80's!!!! Too funny!
I'd like to say that there's no accounting for taste except I seem to vaguely remember singing along to this song in the 80's. (except I'd rather pretend that I was still babbling words in the 80's as opposed to being in college and speaking somewhat coherently. Oh well, I guess there's no fighting age.)
blessings,
karen
OH MY Goodness! So funny!
You are so funny! Yeah, he's a creep, but the music, well I remember it blasting from the stereo every Saturday at my parent's house. It was our cleaning music. That and Oingo Boingo and Steve Miller Band... Ok you have another ecclectic music lover here!
Karma Chameleon!!!
I think it's going to be in my head for the rest of the day... at least the few words I remember!
when i worked at a starbucks in atlanta, someone started a poll asking everyone who came in which song they'd rather listen to for eternity: karma chameleon or we built this city. you'd be amazed how many chose karma. i most emphatically did not. i think you could run my dh for his money in terms of ecclectic tastes!
This is too funny. Do you think she might be confused and think that Boy George is probably a girl? Never know what comes in thru the channels of TV in Doha....
