Just Checking In

We are having a wonderful time here in Jordan. Well, Daniel and I are. Emily is feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the attention and is kind of crashing. She and Daniel and her cousins are to attend a camp this week, but she's crying and doesn't want to stay. It's pretty pricey ($250) so I hate to let her back out, but I don't have the energy to fight her. Sigh...The struggles of motherhood.

Other than that we are having so much fun. Hubby's family is big and loving and loud - think "My Big Fat Greek Wedding."

Hope to get to post something more substantial soon, but I'm waiting for a call from Hubby for directions on dealing with my anti-social child. Have a great day!!

Glad to hear you're enjoying your vacation. Yes, parenting can be tough. My daughter sometimes breaks down for no apparent reason, as well. I'll say a prayer for you. Enjoy the family!!

Blessings,
Catherine

Lori,

I'm not sure what advice to offer you.

Kate is sometimes more resistant to doing something/going somewhere now that she is a teen. Sometimes we acquiesce and sometimes we tell her she HAS to go. Often she has some fun after all.

However, we haven't done the camp thing where our kids go away with out us, unless they are visiting immediate family, so I'm not sure how I would handle that. She will have her brother with her, so she wouldn't be entirely alone. But still.

My heart goes out to you guys, that's a rough decision.

I'm so glad you are having a good time other than that, though!!

Let's see. I don't really know you or your children but I'm going to weigh in on this. How strange is that?

I would probably make a bargain of give it 48 hours and then if you really hate it I'll come get you. If that's feasible. I don't know that I could force her to go. She's in a new country, there could be language issues, culture issues.... This is a tough one. You want your kids to try new things and gain independence but you don't want to force them into things they really truly aren't ready for. Good luck with this!

I'm glad you got to your destination and I'll be praying for Emily. Been there, still doing that with Jessi. (Although I think Emily's situation probably revolves around a different set of stressors.)

I finally did the meme you tagged me for (6 weeks ago!) whenever you get a chance to head over that way.

blessings,
karen
